Review: The Tasting Kitchen

The Tasting Kitchen

Located in the bustling Abbot Kinney neighborhood of Venice, there is a seemingly easy to miss little spot called The Tasting Kitchen. It is adorable, bright, and warm inside. We were greeted by the friendly staff and grabbed 2 House Bloody drinks while we waited a few minutes for our table. The Bloodies were thirst quenching and perfectly fresh and spiced. We enjoyed the amazing Banana bread while we waited for our entrees, the grilled tomato sandwich and short rib hash. There are a lot of meaty entrees so a vegan/veggie may have a hard time ordering, make sure to ask the helpful server for some help.

After brunch, you can walk and shop around Abbot Kinney or even walk down to Venice beach.

Tips: Def make a reservation, the restaurant is small and gets busy on Sundays. Grab a drink from their full bar while you wait for table.

My current #1 spot.
Love the salmon eggs benedict. Love the outdoor patio setting. Great place to sit for a few hours with friends, dine, and drink. I like to go a bit later around 2PM on Sundays. You can usually expect to wait a little while for a table, but so worth it.

Went here recently and was unimpressed. We originally wanted to go to Taste across the street, but didn't make a reservation and could not get a table. I usually like Comme Ça, but this time was just not good. The food, although decent, took a very long time and the server never came back to fill my empty coffee cup. All in all, I would recommend this place for a great dinner, but a so so brunch.

Their website is right, there are many things to love about taste. First, I would high recommend making a reservation for brunch at Taste. It is a very cozy restaurant and fills up quickly. I once did a Birthday brunch here with 3 of my girlfriends and we had a blast. We sat at a corner table inside. I ordered the braised short rib hash, it was nothing short of amazing! I will be going back soon to try everything.

Starbucks "Brunch"

Having a busy day at the office? No time for brunch?

I created an impromptu brunch at my desk by picking up some favs from my corner Starbucks.

I actually really like the egg and cheese on an English muffin, I am all about a good breakfast sandwich when I'm on the go. I also got the yummy strawberry/blueberry parfait. And my Drink of Choice at SB: Chai Tea Latte.

It was an enjoyable in a crunch brunch. And cheap too.
